Parejo: "I don't know where the line is that decides which plays are reviewed"

The captain addressed questions from the media following a tough defeat in Pamplona

Dani Parejo gave a captain's view on Valencia CF's game against Osasuna, with many questions in the mixed zone at El Sadar focusing on the sending off of Rodrigo Moreno.

"For me, it's a decisive play. From my position on the pitch, I didn't see any intention at all; I've spoken to Rodrigo and he told me the same thing. I think that he is the one who is fouled; he doesn't know where the opposition player is, he falls and maybe he hits him, but it isn't intentional -it was a result of him being off-balance," assessed the midfielder.

"You could see that the referee was talking with the VAR and was clear about it being a red card. Sometimes they decide to go and look at these incidents, and sometimes they don't. I don't know where the line is that decides which plays are reviewed and which aren't," he lamented.

"We're not clear about the criteria. These are situations in which you  never know. I imagine that the VAR saw the situation clearly and told the referee that it's so clear that him checking wasn't required. There are a lot of situations in which we are being hindered."

Saying that the red card changed the game, Parejo expressed his belief that it was the turning point in the match.

"It was the key moment. We conceded quickly and letting in a goal just after the restart killed us. It's difficult when you are a man down, at a tough ground like this. We started well, Osasuna handled the situation well with crosses, and we were in fairly good shape until the sending off. Now we have to focus on Wednesday, and an important game against Sevilla FC."
